Health Empowerment For Women involved with The Criminal Justice System

1.11.2023–31.10.2025

The project aims to empower women involved with the criminal justice system through gender-specific health education.

Our focus will be on the prevention of chronic and transmissible diseases while in detention and after release, using innovative methods that address the need for gender-specific health education in the context of justice.

We are working toward establishing a functional health literacy framework, based on real-world evidence. This framework will then enable better collaboration between medical staff and relevant educators, resulting in higher quality programs, adapted to their specific context.

We will create an educational product available both online and offline, that will help the target group in making informed decisions regarding their health, but also for the use of those working with the target group.

Project commitments

This website aims to promote the HE4Her project and its objectives at the national and European level, which is transversal and essential in assuring the handing over of the gender specific health literacy program and framework to the relevant key stakeholders, such as the national prison administrations and other bodies responsible for the lifelong learning pathways available to female offenders.
